Growing in the Knowledge of God - Day 6 - Comes Direct From God and Jesus

These next set of verses are the heart and soul of this entire subject matter. All of these verses are telling us that all knowledge and all wisdom comes direct from God and Jesus.

The first verse will tell us that all the “treasures” of wisdom and knowledge are “hidden” in God the Father and Jesus Christ. Notice that God is comparing knowledge and wisdom with “treasures,” and that this treasure is hidden within Himself. This means that God and Jesus are the source of all godly knowledge, and that we first have to seek after the source in order to get this knowledge to be released to us.

Here are some of the most profound verses in all of Scripture showing us that not only is God the source of all godly knowledge and wisdom – but that He actually wants to release this knowledge to us!

“… both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:2)

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! … For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11:33,36)

“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright …” (Proverbs 2:6)

Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.” (Daniel 2:20)

~Bits and Pieces of "Seeking after the Knowledge of God"

PRAYER

Father, I thank You that You have blessed me with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus.

Through skillful and godly wisdom is my house (my life, my home, my family) built, and by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation]. And by knowledge shall its chambers [of every area] be filled with all precious and pleasant riches—great priceless treasure. The house of the [uncompromisingly] righteous shall stand. Prosperity and welfare are in my house, in the name of Jesus.

My house is securely built. It is founded on a rock—revelation knowledge of Your Word, Father. Jesus is my Cornerstone. Jesus is Lord of my household. Jesus is our Lord—spirit, soul, and body.

Whatever may be our task, we work at it heartily as [something] done for You, Lord, and not for men. We love each other with the God-kind of love, and we dwell in peace. My home is [deposited into Your charge, entrusted to Your protection and care].

Father, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord, in Jesus’ name. Hallelujah! Amen.

Growing in the Knowledge of God - Day 5 - Knowledge and Wisdom We Can Receive Direct from Him is Better

God is literally telling us that the knowledge and wisdom that we can receive direct from Him is better and more valuable than all the silver, gold, and rubies of this world. In other words, the knowledge and wisdom that you can receive direct from God is better than all the material wealth that this world can offer!

God then goes one step further and states that knowledge and wisdom is better than anything else you can possibly desire in this life! Think about how radical and extreme this statement really is given the materialistic and money-hungry society we now live in.

  • “How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” (Proverbs 16:16)
  • “There is gold and a multitude of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.” (Proverbs 20:15)
  • “… but the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.” (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
  • “Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it.” (Proverbs 16:22)
  • “Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” (Proverbs 24:3)
  • “Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten rulers of the city.” (Ecclesiastes 7:19)

  • Father, I ask You to give me a complete understanding of what You want to do in my life, and I ask You to make me wise with spiritual wisdom. Then the way I live will always honor and please You, and I will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, I will learn to know You better and better.

Jesus has been made unto me wisdom. I single-mindedly walk in that wisdom, expecting to know what to do in every situation and to be on top of every circumstance!

I roll my works upon You [commit and trust them wholly to You: and You cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your will, and] so my plans are established and succeed. You direct my steps and make them sure. I understand and firmly grasp what Your will is, for I am not vague, thoughtless and foolish. I stand firm and mature [in spiritual growth], convinced and fully assured in everything willed by You.

Father, You have destined and appointed me to come progressively to know Your will [to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly and to become better and more intimately acquainted with Your will].

I thank You, Father, for the Holy Spirit, Who abides [permanently] in me and guides me into all the truth (the whole, full truth) and speaks whatever He hears from You and announces and declares to me the things that are to come.

I have the mind of Christ and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

So, Father, I have entered into Your blessed rest by believing (trusting in, clinging to and relying on) You.

    Hallelujah!

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

Growing in the Knowledge of God - Day 4 - Better Than All the Material Things of This World

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.” (Proverbs 3:13)

God says that “happy” is the man who finds wisdom, and that having knowledge and wisdom will help lengthen the number of days that you might be able to live down here on this earth. He then says that knowledge will also bring you peace and be a tree of life to you and your life.

This “tree of life” is what stimulates those who seek after knowledge. There is nothing more challenging, more rewarding, and more thrilling than seeking after the knowledge of God on a particular subject or issue you may really be interested in. And to top all of this off – all of the knowledge and wisdom that you will be receiving from the Lord on the different parts of your life down here on this earth will all be going with you into the next life, which will be heaven.

However, not one ounce of all of the gold, rubies, silver, and wealth of this world will be going with you when you die and cross over. All of that earthly material wealth will rot and perish as far as you are concerned – because not one ounce, not one penny will be going with you to the other side!

This is why God is placing such an extremely high value on the pursuit of His knowledge and wisdom for us in this life. This is why God is telling us in the above verses that seeking after His knowledge and wisdom in this life will give you true life.

    PRAYER:

    To Seek Wisdom

Father, I thank you for filling me with Your Spirit, giving me great wisdom, ability and skill in accomplishing the work to which You have called me.  My mouth shall speak of wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

I thank You that I am in Christ Jesus, Who has become for me wisdom from You—that is, my righteousness, holiness and redemption. I am filled with the knowledge of Your will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that I may live a life worthy of You and may please You in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of You.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
