Just a thought...
So, Back in 2003...Colorado had a wildfire. It was called the Hayman Fire. It burned 138,000 acres. Making it the largest fire in CO history.
In July, 2020 Colorado had another fire. It was called the Pine Gulch fire. It burned 139,000 acres. Thus making it the largest fire in CO history.
In August 2020, Colorado had another wildfire start. This is the Cameron Peak fire. It has burned 207,000 acres. Making it the largest fire in CO history.
Then...October 14th, 2020...9 DAYS AGO...Colorado had ANOTHER fire start. This is the East Troublesome fire. On October 21St at 6pm, it had burned 19,000 acres. On October 22nd (Today) at 6am it had burned 125,000 acres. As of 6pm tonight...It has burned 170,000 acres, making it the second largest fire in CO history...
NOW the concern, is not only will Cameron, and East Troublesome grow...But that they will merge into one gigantic fire. The 2 are 10ish miles apart.
Now, the Hayman fire...Is the 4th largest fire. THREE record setting fires within 3 months of each other. The second largest only starting 9 days ago...
So when you see "Pray for Colorado" or "Colorado needs rain" we are not exaggerating. We are losing our favorite camping spots. Our favorite get away loctions. Wild animals have lost their habitats. People have lost their homes and livelihood. Our state's natural beauty has been decimated. Ever heard of the movie, The Shining? The book by Stephen King??? He stayed at the world famous Stanley Hotel...In Estes Park.
Welp, Tonight...The whole town of Estes Park was ordered to evacuate.
The National Guard is on their way to help. This is very real. Very close (personally) and scary as hell. Not to mention heartbreaking.
This is my home. I've been to these mountains. Pray for the THOUSANDS of firefighters. The animals. The people who are unaccounted for. The people who have lost homes. Pray for Colorado.
